MY TRUTH by Nicholas Stephens

Decades not days, years not hours, A lifetime fully scarred

But still no sign of who you truly are

My reflection is like the memory I keep trying to erase

But with every glimpse in the mirror, I still see your face

I feel like you still hold a part of my soul

Even though your heart is literally frozen cold

I pray for your blessings each and everyday

And I pray that I'm not a reflection of the image you portrayed

And even though you are not around, I feel your presence here

Even though you are miles away, I still feel your presence near

And I wish I could sound my words so powerful that even the stars could hear

But the truth remains the same, that even if the powers of heaven shook, you still wouldn't care

And though my eyes run river, your heart wouldn't break a single tear

And even when I quench my heart with lies, knowing the truth, I just could not bear

To know that you're still alive

But you just don't care
