THE OTHER CHAPTER by Nicholas Stephens

The year has closed and another chapter has now come to an end...

Filled with detours, love and trials, chapter 2018 was truly a blend.

This chapter has revealed our strengths and refreshed our minds,

That if we set out wholeheartedly, they're treasures we can find

As a new year starts and an old one ends,

We reflect on memories with our family and our friends.

We lived, we loved, we wooed, we wed,

We wreathe our brides, and balmed our dead.

As the chapter ends, we set our goals and our resolutions,

As we forgive others in exchange for a heavenly absolution.

We now filter our grudges, to make room for redressing,

And empty the guilts of our past, to make room for new blessings.

As we live our lives, appreciate every moment of it,

Be peaceful among all, this moment a birth , an eye closed the next minute.

We're privileged to be apart of God's grand design,

Until our contract expires, and its time to resign

There were moments behind, we wished could be erased,

But as time goes by, we'll understand the design of life's grand phase.

We know not what 2019 holds, which will remain a mystery

And for the past, 2018, we'll leave that as our history.

Let us not live in grief, anger and fear,

But in peace, joy and warmth for this glorious new year.
