I wish she had resisted her heart's temptation to take a bite,

So that all the thorns would return to roses, and the darkness would disappear in the light.

From one bite to another, until he's faded from sight,

And the trend continues, until he's too weak to put up a fight

I wish they could stay forever, but forever never got a chance,

And I wish they danced the night away, but there had to be a final dance.

Forgive and forget, but did we really let go of the past?

Forever they said, but how long did forever last?

Disobedience was the fall from grace that broke his trust,

And as for the price we paid ... we must all return to the dust.
