The poem starts off w/ the line
"I wish she had resisted her heart's temptation to take a bite,
So that all the thorns would return to roses, and the darkness would disappear in the light."
These lines dive into biblical references which is basically saying if man hadn't disobey God's order, there would be a perfect world. This also ties into the final lines of the poem that once again tells you that man broke the perfect plan that God had for us and because of this we paid the price for breaking his trust.
The final lines read :
"Disobedience was the fall from grace that broke his trust,
And as for the price we paid ... we must all return to the dust."
